Some things you may not get from my resume:
I love helping brands connect with people -- especially women -- and helping people connect with brands in ways that benefit them both.
I create the platforms, campaigns, and tag lines that brands can use for years. (And many have.) I launched Bioré pore strips, introduced cargo pants for Old Navy, rebranded Mitsubishi Motors with "Wake Up and Drive," turned Universal Studios from a theme park to a resort destination, and most recently, created Cetaphil's first ever global brand campaign. In my first job, I decorated ice cream cakes at Carvel.
I am a social marketing insider. Having been an blogger/influencer, a marketer, a digital publisher, and a creative director, I have a unique perspective into every facet of social strategy, influencer marketing and branded content creation. (PR agencies have pitched me my own campaigns. That's always strange.) I taught America to Tweet, Pin, and Snap live on the TODAY Show. I continue to live social media every day -- and most nights, but I'm working on that.
I don't hate the word "creativity," but it's not what we do; it's the tool we use for solving a marketing problem.
I really dislike calling people "consumers." Can we work on that? Let's work on that.
I am a planner's writer: I am devoted to strategy, data, and cultural insight.
I am a writer's writer: words matter.
I do my best to live my values. That can be hard in this business, but it's important to me.
I am hard on my keyboards.
Things I can do for you, on contract or freelance
Building brands, reinventing brands, refining brands, helping brands find their people, whatever the platform. Giving brands a new voice, or even their first voice. Helping a creative department find the magic in the details. Turning a category on its head. Pushing for craft. Writing literally anything (with a mostly non-ironic use of the word literally). Figuring out a sharper strategy. Cracking the new business big idea, even when you're counting the hours until the pitch. Motivating and inspiring. Bringing positive energy.
How I work:
I can lead a big group, guide a small team, pair up with a partner, or fly solo. Let me know how I can help. You can reach me at lgumbinner[at]gmail.com
